Geo-tagging

This feature is required by the UK government that geolocation and time stamp has to be displayed along with images.

Photographs should be digital and of sufficient quality and high enough resolution to allow a qualitative audit of the subject detail. Close-up photographs may be needed where a long shot image provides insufficient detail. More than one image of each detail may be needed. Geolocation should be enabled to confirm the location, date and time of each image. Each image file name should include a plot number and detail reference according to the numbers used in paragraph B7. For example, Plot 1 eaves detail would be P1/3b.

Ensure the camera device is capable of embedding geo-location, time and date directly into the photo. This will help both the energy assessor and building control body identify the photos relevance to the project.

In order for this data to be captured, the device on which the photo is taken must have the GPS switched on. let's go through how to do this dependent on your device.

Android

Go to settings on your device, then go into Location...

You will then need to select App Permissions as shown below. If RDrive appears in your recently accessed apps, you can select this directly instead.

If pressing app permissions, you will then need to scroll down to RDrive and select (if the app is in your recently accessed, this element will be bypassed).

Here you can allow the location permissions.

Apple

Go to settings on your device, then go into Privacy & Security and Location Services

You will then see RDrive shown in the list of Apps, press into this to adjust the settings

And update the settings to capture the data (selecting either of the 2 options boxed below will suffice

You will now be able to capture the location metadata when taking photos for your Issue/Defect/Record/Part L needs.

This feature will only show the data when taking the image directly on your device on the app.

Please note that this data will not be captured when uploading an image from your gallery.

Now let's see how this data is shown when downloading your item as a PDF. When downloading the item(s) the Advanced Settings will need to be selected for the file to include the location metadata as shown below.

In the below PDF a photo was taken at the time of recording the Issue/Defect/Record/Part L and the location data has been recorded.

And below we can see that a PDF in which the photo has been uploaded from the device gallery and the location data has not been recorded.
