How to change the active controller of an item or record

  • Purpose: How to manually change the controller of an item within RDrive
  • Who It’s For: General users, admins
Prerequisites: Item control, able to assign


A controller serves as the responsible team overseeing a particular item. Initially, control is assigned to the team that creates the item and can be transferred to different teams as needed.


Here's how we can change the controller of an item:


From the Process


Click the ⋮ button to open the menu on the required Process,

Select "Control" from the options available.

The current controller will be displayed.


By default, the team that created the item becomes the initial controller.


Click on "CHANGE" to initiate the controller change.

Choose the team you wish to assign control to, then confirm by selecting "OK."


It's worth noting that the controller can also be modified through assignment rules. This process ensures the appropriate team is in control of the item.


From the Issue/record


Click the button to reveal a menu.

Select "Control" from the options available.

The current controller will be displayed.


By default, the team that created the item becomes the initial controller.


Click on "CHANGE" to initiate the controller change.

Choose the team you wish to assign control to, then confirm by selecting "OK."
